MARKET RESEARCH

Our market research consisted of a literature review of horror and horror comedy statistics and trends, observation of the number of similar shows that played at last year's Fringe Festival, research into Toronto-based theatre companies that produce similar content, and contacting different theatre groups about how well their season(s)/fringe tour(s) sold.

Horror-comedy theatre has proven itself as a commercially successful genre with shows like Evil Dead the Musical, and in fringe markets like Crime, After Crime (After Crime) by Sex T-Rex in the 2024 Toronto Fringe. The resurgence of the popularity of the horror genre (Ehlinger, 2023) shows there is a market for a show like TTZ(ombie). 

MARKETING

To ensure the success of the workshop the following marketing tactics will be used:

• Comprehensive social media strategy

• Cast announcement graphics, behind the scenes teasers, early bird discount, final weeks push, etc.

• Media outreach

• Outreach to independent media outlets, and posting on event websites (BlogTO, City events calendar etc.) to promote

• Limited merchandise release

• Used for social media promotion, incentive for higher crowdfunding donations, extras sold at show

• Industry outreach

• Complimentary tickets provided to 3-5 theatre professionals that work within the genre to provide feedback on the production
